The museum features more than 7,000 objects representing a lifetime of collecting by local industrialist and philanthropist Joseph Allen Skinner (1867–1946). This fascinating early 20th-century cabinet of curiosities boasts objects from around the world and across time. After moving an 1840s meeting house from the Quabbin town of Prescott to South Hadley, Skinner opened his collection to the public in 1932. It became part of the Mount Holyoke College campus in 1946 and is administered today by the Mount Holyoke College Art Museum. This one-of-a-kind collection is preserved as an educational resource for the campus and the community, as Skinner intended. A visit to the Skinner Museum is always a memorable occasion!

There will be student guides available to answer questions.
